We The Constructivists stand in unwavering solidarity with our Immigrant, Black, Brown, Indigenous, Hispanic, Latin, and Asian friends, actors, artists, and collaborators.
Our theatre space is a place of refuge, one where people can be seen and heard in their full humanity. Our rehearsal rooms, performance spaces, and classrooms are grounded in the belief that art cannot exist without support, dignity, and care. We reject fear as a tool of control and affirm that no one should be targeted, harassed, or torn from their community for seeking a life of stability, creativity, and belonging.
We condemn the attacks and loss of life we are seeing in communities like Minneapolis. The erosion of our human rights and civil liberties is one that we absolutely cannot ignore, and we must strive to protect our neighbors and ourselves.
We commit to fostering spaces rooted in trust, consent, and mutual aid. We will continue to look out for one another, to share resources, and to act with compassion when members of our community are under threat. We believe that our responsibility extends beyond the stage—to the real lives of the people who make theatre possible.
To our Immigrant Friends, Actors, Artists, and Collaborators: You are wanted here. You are valued here. You are not alone.
Art is an act of resistance. Care is an act of defiance. And community is how we survive. Abolish ICE.
