About The Constructivists
The Constructivists are a Milwaukee-based theatre company committed to socially conscious, thought-provoking, and boundary-pushing work. We believe in art that challenges assumptions, ignites dialogue, and connects people through raw and impactful storytelling. As we continue to grow our reach and deepen our community impact, we are seeking engaged and dynamic individuals to join our Board of Directors.

The Opportunity
We are currently seeking new board members who are passionate about the arts, community, and equity—and who are eager to help shape the future of The Constructivists. Ideal candidates bring a spirit of collaboration, leadership, and advocacy to help further our mission and deepen our impact throughout Milwaukee and beyond.

Strategic Thinker: Can help guide the organization’s vision and long-term sustainability.

Community-Oriented: Connected to local networks or passionate about building them.
Equity-Minded: Committed to inclusivity, transparency, and ethical governance.
Willing to Learn: Open to deepening their understanding of nonprofit governance and the arts.
Active Advocate: Willing to promote our work and represent the company publicly.
Board Member Responsibilities
Attend quarterly board meetings (virtual or in-person)
Serve on at least one committee (e.g., development, governance, community engagement)
Provide strategic guidance, oversight, and support to the Artistic Director and leadership
Actively participate in fundraising and friendraising efforts, including:
Making a personally meaningful annual contribution (no minimum required)
Helping identify and cultivate donors, sponsors, and partners
Serve as an ambassador for The Constructivists in the community
Support and attend productions, events, and special initiatives
Participate in board training and annual self-evaluation
Time Commitment
Approximately 3–6 hours per month, including:
Quarterly board meetings
Committee work
Attendance at shows and events
Occasional retreats or strategy sessions
